The Central Election Commission (CEC) has once again failed to certify the Serbian List for the early elections scheduled on December 28.

In response, the British Ambassador to Kosovo, Jonathan Hargreaves, expressed concern over the decision.

Hargreaves stated that actions like this threaten Kosovo’s reputation as a multi-ethnic democracy and added that he hopes the Election Complaints and Appeals Panel (ECAP) will overturn the CEC’s decision.

“I am deeply concerned about the recent attempts by political actors to block the participation of the Serbian List in the electoral process. Such actions threaten to undermine Kosovo’s hard-earned reputation as a multi-ethnic democracy and could damage relations with close international partners,” wrote the British ambassador.

The CEC had also failed to certify the Serbian List during the February 9 elections. However, the Election Complaints and Appeals Panel ordered the CEC to certify the largest Serbian party in Kosovo.

Despite the Vetëvendosje (LVV) appeal to the Supreme Court, the Serbian List participated in the February 9 elections.
