The European Union Office in Kosovo has urged all members of the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council (KPC) to fully and jointly implement reforms within the institution.

In a statement, the EU emphasized that rule of law remains a fundamental prerequisite for European integration.

“The EU Office in Kosovo today called on all KPC members to implement the Council’s reform in full and together, to ensure the legality of their decisions, act with integrity, and maintain public trust in the justice system,” the statement read.

This appeal follows recent tensions within the KPC and the dismissal of acting State Prosecutor Besim Kelmendi. The EU office had requested an urgent meeting with council members in response to these developments.

Meanwhile, three civil society organizations have warned that the current situation increases the risk of illegal decision-making within the KPC, calling for judicial intervention to ensure legality.
