More than 800 migrants in 13 boats crossed the English Channel on Saturday, according to Home Office data, BBC reported via Gazeta Express.

This marks a record for a single day in December in recent years, reportedly driven by a large number of people attempting to reach Kent amid recent adverse weather conditions.

The crossings bring the annual total to 41,455, surpassing 2024, when 36,816 migrants crossed the Channel throughout the year.

A Home Office spokesperson stated: “The number of crossings in small boats is shameful, and the British public deserves better.”
