On Thursday, Germany donated five HX-3 military trucks to the Kosovo Security Force. The German ambassador in Pristina, Jorn Rohde, has announced that in addition to five trucks as a donation, the KSF has bought ten more with its own means.
The value of the trucks as a donation is around 3 million euros. Which means that the other ten trucks are expected to cost the KSF around 6 million euros.
But what are these trucks for?
The HX3 series of military trucks are manufactured by the German armaments company, Rheinmetall. These types of trucks are produced in cooperation with the well-known company “MAN”.
Such trucks serve for logistical and tactical missions. The truck is manufactured to cope with difficult terrains.
The HX3 series was preceded by the HX and HX2 models. The HX3 series, which Kosovo has received as a donation, was first revealed in May 2021.
The trucks donated by Germany can also be used for air defense. But the “Skyranger 30” system must be installed in it. Anti-aircraft system must be purchased separately from trucks. There was no announcement that Kosovo bought this system together with the trucks.
