The Acting Minister of Culture, Hajrulla Çeku, has announced that the house where the April 15 massacre occurred, in the Bosniak Neighborhood of North Mitrovica, is being transformed into a museum.

In this house, 23 residents of the neighborhood — all ethnic Albanians — were brutally tortured and murdered.

“Together with Minister Xhelal Sveçla and Erden Atiq, we visited this site of memory to closely observe the ongoing works,” Çeku stated.

“This museum will preserve the condition of the house and the traces of the crime, serving as a place of remembrance, reflection, and awareness for future generations,” he added.

Below is his full statement:

We are transforming into a museum the house where the April 15, 1999 massacre took place in the Bosniak Neighborhood of North Mitrovica, where 23 residents of this neighborhood were brutally tortured and killed.

Together with Minister Xhelal Sveçla and Erden Atiq, we visited this site of memory to see the works up close.

This museum will preserve the condition of the site and the traces of the crime, serving as a place of remembrance, reflection, and awareness for future generations.

The memory of these crimes is a shared responsibility and a call for the justice that is still missing.
