A life sentence was again requested today for Millosh Pleskoviq, accused of war crimes in the Prizren area. During today’s session of the Court of Appeal, the panel reviewed the appeal filed by the defendant’s lawyer against the verdict of the Basic Court in Pristina, which convicted him of war crimes committed in Prizren.

The session was presided over by Judge Mentor Bajraktari, while the Appellate Prosecutor was absent.

Judge Albina Shabani Rama, presenting the claims of the defense attorney Jovana Filipović, stated that the Appellate Prosecution has proposed rejecting the appeal as unfounded.

“The case prosecutor submitted a response opposing all defense claims and proposed that the Court of Appeal reject the appeal of the defendant’s counsel, Jovana Filipović, as unfounded, and uphold the judgment no. 54/2024 of the Special Department of the Basic Court in Pristina. Likewise, the Appellate Prosecution proposed rejecting the appeal as unfounded,” she said.

During the hearing, Mihrije Daçaj, the mother of two twin sons killed in Prizren, again demanded life imprisonment for Pleskoviq.

“They killed my sons… they were in the mountains, collecting firewood… We ask for a life sentence,” Daçaj said briefly.

Defense lawyer Blend Gjini also requested the harshest sentence, stressing that the appeal is unfounded.

“We are dealing with Albanian civilian victims. Mrs. Mihrije’s soul has been burned—her two young twin sons were brutally executed. The suffering has been relived in this courtroom. The sentence imposed by the first-instance court is too lenient under the law. We ask the Special Department of the Court of Appeal to impose a capital sentence and to reject the defense appeal as unfounded and unsupported by the evidence,” he stated.

Defense attorney Jovana Filipović claimed that the crime was not committed by Millosh Pleskoviq.

“At the time, Millosh was 19 years old; he was serving a sentence and was not a police officer. He later visited Prizren and posted photos on Facebook, receiving comments from many Albanians from Prizren, and until then no one spoke about him,” she said.

The hearing also saw verbal confrontations, particularly following the defense’s statements, prompting reactions from victims’ family members. Judge Mentor Bajraktari intervened and said the decision would be delivered within a reasonable time.

On July 31, 2025, Millosh Pleskoviq was sentenced to 15 years in prison for the murder of three Albanian civilians and the wounding of others during the war in Kosovo.
