The Italian government has strongly urged its citizens to leave Iran due to escalating security risks, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Wednesday.

According to the ministry, around 600 Italian nationals are currently in Iran, mostly in the capital Tehran. The warning comes amid growing tensions in the region and concerns for the safety of foreign nationals.

The ministry also highlighted that over 900 Italian Armed Forces personnel are deployed in nearby regions, including approximately 500 in Iraq and 400 in Kuwait, where precautionary measures are being taken to protect military staff.

Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani convened a meeting with ambassadors, defense officials, and intelligence representatives to coordinate safety measures and reiterate Italy’s strong condemnation of violent crackdowns on protests and serious human rights violations in Iran.
