The Director of the Prizren Regional Police, Faton Alia, has stated that the 109 individuals detained in connection with the alleged manipulation of the results of the early elections held on December 28 will be properly accommodated.

Speaking at a press conference, Alia addressed public concerns and media reports regarding whether there would be sufficient space in detention centers.

“In the early morning hours, the operational plan began to be implemented. As the Prizren Regional Directorate, we assisted with personnel, facilities, sufficient office space, and vehicles, as we understood that this involved a very large number of detainees—the largest number so far in our region. All individuals processed within police station facilities and the regional directorate had their procedural rights fully respected during the investigation process,” Alia said.

He added that no injuries were reported, neither among detainees nor police officers, and that no vehicle damage occurred, despite the significant movement of police vehicles throughout the city.

“Up to this moment, everything has proceeded smoothly. There were questions and public interest regarding the availability of facilities for accommodating the detainees. In cooperation with the Kosovo Correctional Service (KCS), sufficient space has been secured, and all detainees will be accommodated in accordance with criminal procedure regulations for such cases,” Alia explained.
