The Municipality of South Mitrovica announced that it has launched an operation to remove illegal street vendors, adding that the aim is to relocate them to designated trading areas.
“As previously announced by the Directorate of Inspection, early this morning an action began to remove illegal vendors who were carrying out commercial activities on roads and sidewalks along the market area. The operation is being carried out by the Director of Inspection, Mr. Mujë Igrishta, together with municipal inspectors, in cooperation with the Police and the Public Utility Company ‘Uniteti’, with the aim of placing traders in spaces designated for trade,” the municipality wrote on its official page.
The announcement said that the purpose of this action is “to free public spaces for pedestrians, enable normal vehicle traffic, and ensure food safety.”
The municipality warned that similar actions will continue in the coming days.
