The recount of early December parliamentary election votes in Kosovo has now reached over half of the 2,557 polling stations nationwide. The process has uncovered significant discrepancies, with roughly 80,000 votes miscounted in municipal counting centers.

  • 47,619 votes were removed from candidates (previously overcounted)
  • 32,018 votes were added (previously undercounted)

Affected votes largely involve:

  • PDK: ~40,000 votes
  • LVV: ~15,000 votes
  • LDK: ~11,000 votes
  • AAK: ~4,000 votes

Prizren accounts for over 80% of the discrepancies, with Malisheva and Podujeva also affected.

Law enforcement has acted: 109 people were arrested in Prizren, and the court ordered 23 suspects held for one month for crimes including vote fraud, bribery, and intimidation. Investigations have expanded to Ferizaj, Malisheva, and Gjakovë.

Political leaders, including acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti, have called for full investigations and no amnesty for those involved. The recount is seen as critical for ensuring the integrity and legitimacy of Kosovo’s electoral process.
