Kosovo’s Chief Negotiator with the European Union, Jeton Zulfaj, participated in the panel “European Union Integration and Regional Mechanisms” as part of the 9th Ambassadors’ Conference, where he discussed with the heads of Kosovo’s diplomatic missions the EU accession process, as well as the role and importance of Kosovo’s diplomacy in advancing candidate status and opening accession negotiations.
Chief Negotiator Zulfaj emphasized that Kosovo has strong arguments for obtaining candidate status and opening accession negotiations as soon as possible. He described Kosovo as a dynamic democracy with a stable and growing economy, fully aligned with the EU’s Common Foreign and Security Policy, and as a proactive and reliable partner of the European Union.
According to Zulfaj, Kosovo’s progress toward the EU strengthens democratic institutions and contributes to peace, security, and the democratic future of the entire region.
The Chief Negotiator stressed that Kosovo’s diplomatic missions have an important role in advancing these arguments with EU member states.
During the discussion and Q&A session, participants also addressed Kosovo’s approach to the accession process, dynamics within the EU and its member states, reforms, and ways in which Kosovo’s diplomatic missions can directly contribute to advancing the country’s EU integration agenda.
