Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama is concluding his official working visit to Israel today, January 27, 2026, with his participation in the International Conference on the Fight Against Antisemitism, held in Jerusalem. The high-level international event aims to address global challenges in combating antisemitism.

Prime Minister Rama’s visit, which began on January 25, included a series of symbolic and diplomatic engagements. His first stop in Jerusalem was at the Nova Site, where he shared images accompanied by his wife, Linda Rama.

During the visit, Rama delivered what was described as a historic address at the Israeli Parliament (Knesset), emphasizing that Albania should serve as a moral compass and a model of religious coexistence. He underlined Albania’s legacy of protecting Jewish communities during the Holocaust, presenting it as a living example of solidarity and humanity.

In his speech, Rama announced plans to open a museum in the coastal city of Vlora, dedicated to honoring the actions of the Albanian people who saved Jews from Nazi persecution during World War II.

He also stated that the tunnels where Israeli hostages were tortured by Hamas following the October 7, 2023 attacks should be preserved as a reminder of history, stressing the importance of collective memory and coexistence.

Rama concluded his address with a call for peace, stating:
“May the State of Israel flourish forever, and may the Palestinian people live in dignity, with both nations together in the future.” His remarks were met with applause in the Knesset.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu praised Rama personally, stating that he “stands above others, not only in physical terms, but also morally.” Netanyahu emphasized that relations between Albania and Israel are stronger than ever, also referencing the double-headed eagle on Albania’s national flag as a symbol of strength.

He described Albania as “an island of peace in an ocean of evil” and pledged financial and strategic support to Tirana, particularly in the areas of security, counterterrorism, technology, trade reforms, and tourism.

Netanyahu also highlighted a nearly 1,000% increase in Israeli tourists visiting Albania, attributing the surge to Albania’s growing international appeal and recent urban and aesthetic improvements.
