The police announced that no suspicious packages or devices were found after a bomb threat was sent on Monday to several schools in the Columbia Heights area, a suburb of Minneapolis.
However, as a precautionary measure, several schools in the district were closed for the remainder of the day. The Columbia Heights Public School District stated that the decision to close the schools was made following a threat deemed credible, emphasizing that the measure was taken out of an abundance of caution to ensure the safety of students and staff. Classes are expected to resume normally on Tuesday.
This incident occurs amid a tense climate, as several students in the district were recently detained as part of enforcement actions by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Minnesota. Meanwhile, protests against ICE continue both in the state and across the United States.
