Arbërie Nagavci, a member of the Assembly’s Committee on Budget, has announced that the draft law amending the Law on the Prevention of Money Laundering and Combating the Financing of Terrorism has been approved by the committee.

In a Facebook post, the Vetëvendosje MP said the draft legislation aims to strengthen measures to prevent money laundering and combat terrorist financing “through rules and mechanisms that help identify and prevent illegal activities within the financial system.”

“We remain committed to advancing legislation and strengthening institutional mechanisms that ensure the rule of law, transparency and accountability,” Nagavci wrote.

Earlier in the day, opposition representatives criticised the absence of Finance Minister Hekuran Murati from the committee meeting and raised concerns about the way the draft law was being processed.
