Four people have been killed in a Russian airstrike on Kyiv overnight, local officials report.
“Windows were shattered in the central Shevchenkivskyi district, including a metro station, while a fire broke out in a non-residential building,” said the city’s mayor, Vitali Klitschko.
Air defense systems were in operation around the Ukrainian capital, Klitschko added.
This marks the second deadly attack in Kyiv this month, following a strike on the capital on New Year’s Day that left two people dead, according to BBC reports.
Meanwhile, in the southern city of Zaporizhzhia, local authorities say six people were injured in a Russian attack on Saturday. It is reported that a woman is in serious condition.
On Tuesday, ammunition depots and chemical plants were targeted in multiple regions of Russia, some of which were hundreds of kilometers away from the border, according to the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
