Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) MP Hykmete Bajrami has pledged relentless efforts to overturn the Energy Regulatory Office’s (ZRRE) recent decision to increase electricity prices by 16 percent.
In a Facebook post, Bajrami strongly criticized the price hike and emphasized that this battle will be fought together with all members of parliament who represent and remain accountable to the citizens of Kosovo.
“Together with all deputies who defend the public interest and are accountable to the people, we will leave no stone unturned until ZRRE’s decision to raise electricity prices for citizens and businesses is overturned,” she wrote.
This political stance follows growing public discontent over the decision, which many view as unjustified and burdensome amid ongoing economic challenges.
On May 2, the citizen initiative “Asnjë Cent Më Shumë” (Not a Cent More) formally filed a lawsuit at the Basic Court in Pristina against ZRRE, challenging the recent price hike. The lawsuit demands the annulment of the regulatory body’s decision, citing its negative impact on both households and businesses.
The initiative reflects a broader public sentiment demanding transparency, fairness, and accountability in energy pricing—especially as Kosovo grapples with inflation and rising costs of living.
