Former high-ranking NATO official, Nicholas Williams, stated that Joe Biden’s decision to lift restrictions on the use of U.S. weapons by Ukraine is “significant for the final stage of the game.”
He expressed that Biden’s move was crucial for “positioning Ukraine not to make significant concessions that Russia desires to achieve peace.”
“It is meaningful. Ukrainians may say it’s too late, but it’s not too late to impact the final game,” Williams added.
According to him, the discussions between German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Vladimir Putin do not suggest that the Kremlin leader is ready to make compromises for peace, and this may have influenced Biden’s decision.
He further noted that Ukraine will “target military objectives that could have an impact on the border or the battlefield.”
