Kosovo’s Deputy Prime Minister, Besnik Bislimi, met with Michael Carpenter, Senior Director for Europe at the National Security Council of the Biden administration, at the White House.

Expressing gratitude for the support to Kosovo, Bislimi thanked the United States for its partnership.

The meeting focused on the perspective of dialogue and the way forward in normalizing relations, with emphasis on implementing the Basic Agreement and the Annex of the Ohrid Implementation Plan, according to the statement from the Deputy Prime Minister’s office.

“Deputy Prime Minister Bislimi stated that the recent terrorist attack in Varagë, Zubin Potok, on the Ibar-Lepenc canal, is yet another indication that Serbia is not ready for normalization of relations and good neighborly relations. He emphasized the need for the September 2023 Banjskë aggression and the recent attack in Ibar-Lepenc to be punished with concrete measures, to prevent Serbia from repeating such attacks that undermine the security of the country and the region,” the statement reads.

Bislimi was also received by Colleen Hyland, Director for Central and Southern Europe Affairs.
