Montenegrin border police have prevented the alleged smuggling of a large quantity of marijuana at the Vraćenovići–Deleuša joint border crossing and arrested a 31-year-old citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
According to Montenegro’s Police Directorate, officers from the Regional Border Police Center in Podgorica stopped a truck and trailer for inspection at around 11 p.m. Wednesday.
The vehicle, driven by B.G., 31, was taken to a second-line inspection for a more detailed border check.
Following a court-authorized search of the trailer’s cargo area, police discovered 62 packages containing approximately 65 kilograms of marijuana, the police said.
A duty prosecutor from the Higher State Prosecutor’s Office in Podgorica was immediately notified of the case.
After evidence was collected, B.G. was arrested on suspicion of the unauthorized production, possession and trafficking of narcotic drugs, police said.
He is expected to be transferred to the competent prosecution office, along with a criminal complaint, for further proceedings within the legally prescribed timeframe.
