In a major operation codenamed “Envelope,” police in Sarajevo arrested Adna Mesihović, the Minister for Science, Higher Education, and Youth of the Sarajevo Canton, along with her assistant, Gjenita Viteskić. The arrests were made under the authority of the Sarajevo Cantonal Prosecutor’s Office.

The two individuals are suspected of abuse of office or official authority, specifically regarding the illegal employment of individuals within the Ministry. According to reports from klix.ba, the investigation revolves around the hiring practices within the Ministry that may have violated the law.

In the early hours of the morning, both suspects’ residences and the Ministry’s offices were raided by investigators. Documents and other items were seized, which are believed to be crucial evidence in the ongoing criminal proceedings.

This operation is part of a broader anti-corruption initiative and follows a protocol signed between the Sarajevo Cantonal Prosecutor’s Office, the Office for the Fight Against Corruption, and the Sarajevo Canton Ministry of Internal Affairs. The Bosnian Agency for Security and Information (OSA) also provided assistance in the operation.

After the investigation, both suspects will be handed over to the Sarajevo Cantonal Prosecutor’s Office for further legal proceedings.
