The Central Election Commission (CEC) of Kosovo has officially approved the list of voting centers within diplomatic missions and established a cap on the number of voters permitted to register for physical voting on June 6, 2026.

According to the decision, the voting process for the diaspora will be organized across 48 diplomatic missions, encompassing a total of 70 polling stations. This infrastructure includes 33 embassies and 15 consulates worldwide.

Voter Capacities and Registration Limits

The CEC has set a maximum threshold of 66,450 voters who can register to cast their ballots in person at these diplomatic locations. This limitation is based on the logistical and spatial capacities of the respective embassies and consulates.

Key details of the registration process include:

  • Physical Voting Cap: Limited to 66,450 registrants globally.
  • Postal Voting: Remains unlimited. Voters opting for the mail-in ballot do not face any registration quotas.
  • “First-Come, First-Served” Principle: Once a diplomatic mission reaches its maximum registration capacity, subsequent applicants will be automatically redirected to register for the postal voting method.

Strategic Planning for June 6

The decision aims to ensure an orderly and manageable physical voting process abroad, preventing overcrowding at diplomatic facilities while maintaining the accessibility of the democratic process through the mail-in system.

The CEC encourages citizens living abroad to apply early if they prefer to vote in person, as the registration for physical polling stations will be closed on a site-by-site basis once capacity is reached.
