Political parties must submit their lists of parliamentary candidates to the Central Election Commission (CEC) by Tuesday.

The CEC has warned that all candidates running in the June 7 elections for the Assembly of Kosovo will be subject to an institutional verification process.

Through this process, the Central Election Commission will check whether parliamentary candidates meet the legal criteria for participation in elections, in accordance with the Law on General Elections, specifically Article 30.

“As part of fulfilling the legal obligations related to the eligibility/capacity of candidates for certification, the Central Election Commission will send requests for verification to relevant institutions, together with the list of candidates seeking certification to participate in elections, in order to assess whether they comply with Article 30 of the Law on General Elections. This is a practice followed by the CEC in previous electoral processes as well,” said CEC spokesperson Valmir Elezi.
