The lottery to determine the ranking of political entities on the ballot for Kosovo’s early parliamentary elections, scheduled for June 7, 2026, is set to take place this Saturday, May 16.
The announcement was confirmed by the spokesperson for the Central Election Commission (CEC), Valmir Elezi, who noted that the date was finalized following the CEC’s approval of the comprehensive operational plan for the June elections.
“The drawing of lots to assign ordinal numbers to political entities on the ballot for the early elections for the Assembly of Kosovo is planned to take place on May 16,” Elezi stated.
A total of 27 political entities are expected to participate in the lottery. According to the CEC, this follows the conclusion of the notification period for parties and coalitions (May 1–7) and the certification application period for new entities (May 2–10).
The 27 entities competing in this election cycle include:
- 22 Political Parties
- 3 Coalitions
- 1 Citizens’ Initiative
- 1 Independent Candidate
Despite the lottery taking place this week, the official campaign period will not begin immediately. Per CEC regulations, the election campaign—which will last 10 days and 7 hours—is scheduled to start on May 28 and will officially conclude at 06:59 AM on June 7, 2026, just as polls open.
