Vlora Çitaku, head of the Democratic Party of Kosovo’s (PDK) parliamentary group, said it was normal for Kosovo to have disagreements with its international allies and partners over the amendments to the law governing the Kosovo Specialist Chambers.

Çitaku said parliamentary groups had held a substantive discussion on the parliamentary agenda for the current legislative term.

Addressing international reactions to the proposed changes to the Specialist Chambers law, she stressed the importance of maintaining dialogue with Kosovo’s allies, even when disagreements arise.

“It is perfectly normal to have disagreements with our allies and partners. It is very important that we discuss these issues,” Çitaku said.

She added that parliamentary diplomacy was among the issues discussed, highlighting two matters of particular importance: the appeal proceedings in The Hague and the Council of Europe.

According to Çitaku, Kosovo is seeking justice both through its legislation and through its commitment to the process.

She insisted that Kosovo was not trying to evade justice, but rather to put what she described as a process that had gone off track back on the right course.

“Our legislative agenda is one part of our engagement,” she said.
