The 8th Intergovernmental Conference between Albania and the European Union will be held on May 26, 2026.
A day earlier, EU member states gave the green light for the approval of Albania’s IBAR report, a development considered key for further advancement of accession negotiations.
According to internal EU procedures, after the approval of the IBAR, the file is forwarded to COREPER II, the Committee of Permanent Representatives of member states, where formal endorsement of the 8th Intergovernmental Conference between Albania and the European Union is expected.
Albania has held candidate country status for EU membership since 2014, while the government’s objective remains full membership in the EU by 2030.
