At least four people have been killed and several others injured following a shooting at a school in southern Turkey, according to local authorities.
The incident took place at “Ayser Çalık” secondary school in Kahramanmaraş, where, according to reports, an armed attacker opened fire inside the premises.
Local officials confirmed the fatalities, while details about the victims and the condition of the injured remain unclear. Authorities have also not yet provided official information regarding the identity or status of the attacker.
Witness accounts and media reports describe scenes of panic, with students attempting to escape the building by jumping out of windows in an effort to save their lives.
Preliminary reports from Turkish media suggest the attacker entered at least two classrooms and was carrying multiple firearms and ammunition, allegedly belonging to a family member. These details have not yet been independently confirmed.
The motive behind the attack remains unknown, and an investigation has been launched.
The shooting comes just one day after a separate incident in southern Turkey in which 16 people were injured when a former student opened fire at another school before taking his own life.
Authorities continue to secure the area and gather evidence as the country grapples with the latest act of violence in an educational setting.
