The Basic Prosecution Office in Peja has filed a request for pre-trial detention against two Serbian men arrested on Sunday in Gorazhdec on suspicion of “giving or receiving bribes related to voting.”
According to initial suspicions, the suspects allegedly committed the criminal offense in the village of Gorazhdec, in the Municipality of Peja, after which they were arrested by the Kosovo Police.
In a statement, the prosecution said:
“The Basic Prosecution Office in Peja, in coordination with the competent law-enforcement authorities, will undertake all necessary investigative actions with the aim of fully clarifying this criminal case and securing relevant evidence.”
Authorities have not yet released further details regarding the specific circumstances of the alleged vote-buying or voter intimidation scheme.
The case comes amid heightened scrutiny of electoral integrity following Kosovo’s June 7 parliamentary elections.
