Milorad Dodik, the leader of the ruling Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD), has reiterated that his sole political objective is the creation of an independent Republika Srpska, declaring that the future coexistence of Bosnia and Herzegovina is impossible.

“There is time for that,” Dodik said in an interview with the Banja Luka daily Glas Srpske, emphasizing that he no longer trusts Sarajevo, which he described as “a foreign country” to him.

According to Dodik, Bosniak political elites have failed to build a functional state.
“Unfortunately, we still have to endure them, but they only pretend to be a state. It has been shown that Bosniak elites lack the capacity to create anything — not even a multiethnic or unitary country. They only know how to be subjects and sycophants,” Dodik stated.

“Dayton Agreement Is Dead”

Dodik claimed that the Dayton Peace Agreement — the foundation of Bosnia’s post-war structure — has collapsed, and said there is no reason to defend it anymore.
“A number of people in America now in power want nothing to do with the Democrats’ legacy, and they view Dayton as precisely that — a product of Democrats. They understand that Muslims are trying to dominate Christians, that the Croatian component is being dismantled, and that the Serbian component is under attack,” Dodik said.

Referendum to Reject Schmidt and International Oversight

When asked why the referendum planned for October 25 on the ruling of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the decisions of High Representative Christian Schmidt will not be held, Dodik said the RS National Assembly must first appoint a commission.
He added that Bosniak representatives are likely to veto the process, forcing it to the RS Constitutional Court.

“We are looking for a mechanism to avoid that, but I will remain firm that our people need a referendum rejecting Schmidt and international interventionism. That will happen, probably on January 9. That referendum will have historic importance,” Dodik said.

No Future in the European Union

On Bosnia and Herzegovina’s path to the European Union, Dodik said he sees no future for the country in Brussels.
“We are surrounded by the EU and NATO, but the EU we knew five years ago no longer exists. Nor will it exist in this form five years from now,” he said.

Dodik emphasized that Republika Srpska will choose its own partners in Bosnia’s European path, stating that talks with current leaders in Sarajevo are impossible.
“They have usurped all institutions and claim that is Bosnia and Herzegovina. That is not BiH. They tell foreigners only one story, and foreigners believe them. But even they are beginning to realize what kind of swamp BiH really is,” Dodik added.

In conclusion, Dodik declared:

Either Bosnia will disappear or Republika Srpska will.
