The Director of Finnish Intelligence, Brigadier General Pekka Turunen, visited Kosovo today.

He met with the commander of the NATO-led KFOR mission, Major General Enrico Barduani, at KFOR headquarters in Pristina.

According to a KFOR statement, Major General Barduani shared his perspective on the current security situation in the region and emphasized KFOR’s efforts to ensure a safe and secure environment for all people living in Kosovo, in support of the EU-facilitated dialogue between Pristina and Belgrade.

KFOR continues to carry out its mandate, based on UN Security Council Resolution 1244 (1999), to contribute to a safe and secure environment and freedom of movement for all communities in Kosovo, at all times and in an impartial manner. KFOR works in close coordination with the Kosovo Police and the European Union Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo (EULEX) in their respective security roles.
