Five Serbs who have been arrested and accused of committing “War Crimes Against the Civilian Population” have been ordered into 30 days of pretrial detention.
Earlier today, the Kosovo Police announced the arrest of the five Serbs.
“By order of the Special Prosecutor, individuals with the initials D.C., D.N., N.S., S.J., M.Sh. have been detained on reasonable suspicion that they, in collaboration with other unidentified members of this group, armed and dressed in camouflage and irregular uniforms of the Serbian police or military, conducted an operation on April 5, 1999, in the early hours of the morning, in the villages of Inatoc (Kokaj), Llovcë, Pogragjë, and Uglar.s.”
The media exclusively learned the names of four out of the five individuals arrested for this crime: Dragan Cvetković, Dragan Ničić, Slobodan Jevtić, and Milça Šošić.
What Charges Do They Face?
They are accused of committing murder, wounding, burning Albanian civilian victims alive, taking hostages, rape, physical and psychological torture, looting, destroying and burning Albanian properties, expelling the Albanian civilian population, and destroying and desecrating cultural and religious sites. These actions are sanctioned under local laws, the customs of war, the Geneva Conventions, and Additional Protocols.
Additionally, the Special Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Kosovo will continue to undertake further legal procedural actions against the aforementioned individuals, while investigations into this criminal case will proceed.
