Acting President of Kosovo Albulena Haxhiu met today with Republican Congressman Keith Self and Democratic Congressman Suhas Subramanyam, members of a United States Congressional delegation visiting the region.
During the meeting, Haxhiu stressed that Kosovo’s membership in NATO is a matter of long-term security, regional peace, and Kosovo’s rightful place among democratic nations.
According to the Presidency, Haxhiu expressed deep gratitude for the continued support of the United States and the U.S. Congress toward the Republic of Kosovo, emphasizing that this support has carried historic, political, and human significance for the people of Kosovo.
“For Kosovo, friendship with the United States is both institutional and personal. Our people remember who stood beside us during the most defining moments of our modern history,” Haxhiu stated.
She thanked Congressman Keith Self for his clear support for Kosovo’s path toward NATO membership and for raising awareness about the rights of Albanians in the Presevo Valley.
Haxhiu also highlighted the importance of Congressman Suhas Subramanyam’s participation in the delegation, underlining opportunities for cooperation in technology, cybersecurity, education, innovation, and public service.
Kosovo, she said, remains committed to deepening its partnership with the United States in security, defense, economy, diplomacy, and Euro-Atlantic integration.
She added that Kosovo aims to honor this friendship by standing alongside the United States as a reliable partner for peace, security, and democratic progress.
