The Government Commission on Missing Persons of Kosovo (Government Commission on Missing Persons) has announced that field activities are continuing following the resumption of evaluation excavations at the Rahovec location known as “Përzhina.”
According to the public statement, after the excavation work resumed on March 4, 2026, bone fragments were discovered, exhumed, and then sent to the Institute of Forensic Medicine for further examination.
During the work carried out yesterday, the commission said additional human remains were identified, which according to the initial assessment belong to at least one individual.
“However, the exact number of individuals and their identities will be confirmed only after the completion of forensic examinations and relevant analyses, including DNA identification,” the commission stated.
Excavations will continue in the coming days until a full evaluation of the marked location and the area of interest is completed.
The commission said the process is being conducted through inter-institutional coordination between the Government Commission on Missing Persons, the Kosovo Police Directorate for War Crimes Investigation – Missing Persons Sector, the Institute of Forensic Medicine, and judicial authorities.
The goal of these efforts is to clarify the fate and location of persons forcibly disappeared during the war in Kosovo.
