Iran announced on Monday that it is ending its attacks against Israel, while warning that any continuation of Israeli strikes in Lebanon would trigger a far more severe response.

In a statement carried by the semi-official Tasnim News Agency, Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters said its armed forces had responded to what it described as Israeli aggression in southern Lebanon and the Dahiya district of Beirut.

“Following the aggressions and crimes of the brutal Zionist regime in southern Lebanon and the Dahiya area, carried out with the support of criminal America, the powerful armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran delivered a painful response to this regime in support of the oppressed people of Lebanon,” the statement said.

The military added that Israel and its supporters “should have learned their lesson” from Tehran’s response and announced the suspension of military operations.

“On this basis, the cessation of operations by the armed forces is hereby announced.”

However, Iran warned that any further attacks would be met with a significantly stronger reaction.

“If aggression and hostile acts continue, including in southern Lebanon, much harsher and more devastating measures will follow.”

Tensions escalated on Sunday after Israel carried out airstrikes on Beirut despite an ongoing ceasefire. In response, Iran launched rockets toward northern Israel, prompting several waves of Israeli airstrikes against targets inside Iran.

Meanwhile, the Israeli newspaper Israel Hayom reported that Israel and the United States had sent a message to Tehran indicating that no further Israeli strikes would occur if Iran refrained from launching additional attacks.

In a post on his social media platform Truth Social, Donald Trump called on both Israel and Iran to halt hostilities immediately following Monday’s exchanges of fire.
