Along with the trade war and the future of Gaza, one of the most important issues on Donald Trump’s agenda is the fate of Ukraine.
Trump is seeking to end the war between Russia and Ukraine quickly, and signs that a meeting between the two leaders will take place have been evident for several weeks.
Preparations for the meeting are now in an “advanced phase,” according to Russian media, after three years without any contact between Putin and Western leaders.
It could happen in February or March, said senior Russian official Leonid Slutsky to the state news agency RIA Novosti.
Last month, Trump threatened to impose sanctions on Russia and tariffs on Russian imports if Moscow did not reach an agreement with Ukraine.
At the same time, he expressed support for Russia’s stance that Ukraine should not be part of NATO.
