KFOR has announced that soldiers from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit, assigned to Regional Command-East (RC-E), have completed a specialized training exercise at Camp Novo Selo. The drill was designed to strengthen identification procedures and enhance the capacity to neutralize potential explosive threats.
A key highlight of the exercise was the deployment of an advanced robotic system, used by technicians to manage hazardous materials remotely. The training focused on complex emergency response scenarios, ensuring that personnel are prepared for real-world contingencies.
Strengthening Security through Innovation
According to the official KFOR statement, these activities serve a dual purpose:
- Capacity Building: Refining the technical skills required to handle sophisticated explosive devices.
- Readiness: Maintaining a high level of situational awareness among EOD teams.
“Through these activities, KFOR personnel maintain a high level of situational awareness and demonstrate their commitment to a safe and secure environment for all citizens in Kosovo,” the statement read.
KFOR continues to emphasize its mission under the UN mandate to ensure freedom of movement and stability throughout the region, utilizing the latest technology to minimize risks to both military personnel and the civilian population.
