The Kosovo Judicial Council (Kosovo Judicial Council – KGJK) has set the dates for the election processes for the selection of new members of the institution from the country’s basic courts, reports Ekonomia Online.
At the KGJK meeting, the chair Rrustem Thaqi announced that the decision to organize elections for the candidate nominated by the Basic Court in Prishtina has been approved.
“For the candidates nominated in the Basic Court in Prishtina, members of the Kosovo Judicial Council, the election will be held at the Basic Court in Prishtina on June 16, Tuesday, starting at 13:30. The list of judges who have the right to vote in the Basic Court in Prishtina is approved. The ballot form for the first round and possibly the second round is approved and will be used in the process of selecting the nominated candidate in the Basic Court in Prishtina. The report format of the commission to be used in the first and possibly second round is approved in the process of selecting the nominated candidate for member of the KGJK from the Basic Court in Prishtina. The report format of the authorized official from the KGJK Secretariat is approved, which will be used in the process of selecting the nominated candidate from the Basic Court in Prishtina. And the decision enters into force on June 9, 2026,” said Thaqi.
According to the approved calendar, the process of selecting KGJK members will continue in other basic courts as well:
- Basic Court in Gjilan: June 17, starting at 10:00
- Basic Court in Ferizaj: June 17, starting at 14:00
- Basic Court in Mitrovica: June 18, starting at 10:00
- Basic Court in Peja: June 18, starting at 14:00
- Basic Court in Prizren: June 19, starting at 11:00
After the completion of the election processes at the level of the basic courts, the final assembly will be held on June 23 at 13:00, where the selection of the new members of the Kosovo Judicial Council is expected to be finalized.
