A Catholic believer from Kosovo has strongly criticized what he referred to as the “Deçani Movement,” accusing it of damaging the reputation of the Catholic Church and undermining its centuries-long contribution to the history and identity of the Albanian people.
According to him, the movement’s actions and rhetoric do not represent the Catholic Church but instead tarnish its image. He compared its impact to the way ISIS damaged the global perception of Islam.
“I am a Catholic myself. The value of no religion is increased by insulting another religion. We have lived together for centuries in religious tolerance, and special thanks belong to the Muslim majority for preserving that coexistence,” he said.
He emphasized that Albanians, regardless of their religious affiliation, have built a society based on mutual respect and peaceful coexistence, adding that religious conversion is a personal choice that should not be used to create division.
Concluding his remarks, he stated that if some people cannot accept Kosovo’s demographic reality— where more than 90 percent of the population is Albanian and the majority are Muslim then, in his words, “they can go to the Kingdom of Serbia.”
