The 12th attempt to convene the Constitutive Session of the Kosovo Assembly once again ended in failure, as deputies could not reach agreement on the election of the Speaker.

Despite 113 MPs being present, the session stalled due to the lack of quorum for the formation of the commission that would oversee the voting process. Only 56 MPs voted, far below the necessary majority. The key point of contention remains Vetëvendosje’s insistence on a secret ballot for their nominee, Albulena Haxhiu, which other parties argue is unconstitutional.

Session chair Avni Dehari announced that the next attempt will be held on Friday, May 9, at 10:00 AM.

The ongoing deadlock reflects deep political divisions and continues to delay the establishment of the 9th legislature following the February 9 elections.
