Xhavit Haliti, former deputy speaker of the Assembly of Kosovo, said that a governing coalition between Albin Kurti’s Vetëvendosje (LVV) and Fatmir Limaj’s Nisma Socialdemokrate is possible but remains unpredictable.

Writing on Facebook, Haliti noted that while no official confirmation has been made regarding talks between Kurti and Limaj, it would not be unusual for party leaders to meet.

“Every party leader carries public, constitutional, and legal responsibilities toward their voters. Fatmir also owes political loyalty to the AAK, his coalition partner, and must be transparent about any potential split,” Haliti wrote.

He pointed out that Kosovo’s opposition is currently weakened by its failure to unite behind a single candidate for prime minister, giving LVV an electoral advantage.

Haliti added that LVV has historically not governed with the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), but contacts have still occurred between them. He believes Kurti needs a small left-wing partner like Nisma to secure a parliamentary majority without relying on the Serbian List.

“The silence between Limaj and Kurti, along with media speculation, suggests negotiations are ongoing. I believe Kurti is reviewing Limaj’s demands carefully, and the lack of transparency signals a mutual understanding to keep talks discreet,” Haliti concluded.
