Acting Prime Minister of Kosovo Albin Kurti hosted Valentina Superti during her first official visit to the Republic of Kosovo.
In a Facebook post, Kurti stated that Kosovo is “a regional leader in the rule of law, the fight against corruption, political rights, civil liberties, as well as in election and liberal democracy indices.” He said the country has made progress in European reforms, is fully “aligned with the European Union’s foreign and security policy,” and has recorded “continuous economic growth.”
According to Kurti, for the first time in 15 years, the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund have removed Kosovo from their lists of fragile and conflict-affected states.
“The European Union is a major contributor to the development of our Republic, while membership is Kosovo’s goal and future. The EU should respond to our people’s will for membership with a reciprocal willingness to admit Kosovo. Candidate status and the opening of negotiations are the starting point of a process through which Kosovo strengthens its democracy and develops even further,” Kurti wrote.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed the Growth Plan, Kosovo’s integration into the ‘Roam Like at Home’ area, the Berlin Process, regional cooperation and equal representation, as well as infrastructure, trade, digitalization, and education, Kurti said.
