Acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti, during his speech in the Assembly, emphasized that the political crisis and the failure to reach an agreement on forming the new government have caused serious obstacles in the functioning of state institutions.
According to him, these delays have directly affected important international agreements and reform processes.
He added that during the past six months, continuous efforts were made to create a governing majority, but these attempts failed due to the refusal of other parliamentary parties to enter a coalition with Lëvizja Vetëvendosje.
Kurti stressed that if VV’s offer of cooperation had been accepted, the country would already have a new government and the necessary numbers to elect the President:
“This delay has impacted the overall functioning of state affairs, delayed international agreements, the EU Growth Plan, and reform processes, and has damaged the credibility of our state before our international partners. Over these six months, efforts to build a governing majority did not yield results, despite our repeated attempts. None of the parliamentary parties we invited agreed to enter a coalition, even though the citizens’ vote this time mandated a governing coalition. Had our offer of cooperation been accepted, today we would have had the possibility to provide the country with a new coalition government and the necessary numbers to elect the President,” said Kurti.
