Prime Minister Albin Kurti has sought Denmark’s support for advancing Kosovo’s application for membership in the European Union, during a farewell meeting with Denmark’s non-resident ambassador, Christian Grønbech-Jensen.
Kurti said that he and the Danish ambassador discussed relations between the two countries and ways to further strengthen them.
“Expressing my gratitude to Denmark, I requested support for advancing the status of Kosovo’s application toward candidate status for membership in the European Union,” Kurti wrote.
He also stressed that Kosovo remains committed to its strategic objective of joining NATO.
“Our Republic, in addition to being clearly and firmly determined, remains committed to the strategic goal of becoming part of NATO,” he wrote.
Kurti said he thanked Ambassador Grønbech-Jensen for his service and contribution, while the ambassador congratulated him on the new government and its mandate.
He also congratulated the ambassador on the agreement with the United States and Greenland aimed at strengthening defense and security in the Arctic and North Atlantic.
“Alongside justice, energy, education and technology, we discussed concrete ways and opportunities to deepen economic and trade cooperation, as well as increase Danish investment in our country,” Kurti wrote.
