North Macedonia’s Prime Minister, Hristijan Mickoski, was asked by reporters today whether the country could face early parliamentary elections.

Mickoski said the government’s goal is to complete its full four-year mandate but stressed that his party is prepared to go to elections whenever necessary.

“Our goal is to serve a full mandate, meaning four years. However, if there are political forces and a parliamentary majority in favor of early elections, VMRO-DPMNE is ready to go to elections at any time,” Mickoski said.

The question followed the circulation of several opinion polls published today by parties from both the governing coalition and the opposition. According to the reported figures, VMRO-DPMNE enjoyed significantly higher public support than SDSM, while DUI was shown to have greater support than the VLEN coalition.
