In a significant triumph for Ukraine at the NATO meeting in Brussels, allies consented to locate and procure air defense systems from their stockpiles for deployment to Kyiv. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba highlighted the urgent need for more defensive apparatus, revealing that allies possess around 100 systems that could potentially be mobilized for Ukraine’s defense.
Previously, Kuleba expressed perplexity over the reluctance to augment Ukraine’s air defense capabilities, emphasizing the critical necessity for Ukraine to be equipped with a comprehensive array of weaponry to ensure its self-defense amidst ongoing conflicts.
“Allies will conduct efforts to either distribute or locate these additional air defense systems, aiming to deliver them to Ukraine. This initiative is geared towards fortifying Ukraine’s capacity to safeguard its airspace, underscoring the collective commitment to assist Ukraine in its self-defense needs against aggression,” Kuleba remarked, as reported by Skynews.
The reinforcement of Ukraine’s defensive capabilities with diverse types of weapons, including sophisticated air defense systems, is seen as pivotal in bolstering the country’s resilience and enabling it to effectively counter threats and ensure the safety of its citizens and infrastructure.
