Kosovo’s President, Vjosa Osmani, congratulated the leader of the CDU in Germany, Friedrich Merz, and the leader of the CSU, Markus Söder, on their victory in the federal elections on February 23.
“Our countries share a long history of excellent relations, and I am eager to deepen our close ties in the years ahead,” Osmani wrote on platform X.
The CDU/CSU alliance won the elections with 28.5% of the vote.
Its leader, Merz, is now expected to begin talks to choose a coalition partner. He has ruled out the possibility of cooperating with the far-right party, Alternative for Germany, which came in second place in the elections.
