The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, has emphasized that the swift formation of a new government is essential, stating that only a fully functional cabinet can advance reforms and approve key national decisions.

Osmani underlined that the process is in the hands of political parties and expressed hope that they will soon reach a common understanding to move the country forward.

“As you know, despite my continuous efforts to ensure the formation of the Assembly, this matter has depended on the political will of the parties and MPs. The process has finally concluded, and we now have a constituted Assembly,” Osmani said.

She further explained that following the Assembly’s formation, she mandated the acting Prime Minister, who was nominated by the leading party.

“It has been 15 days since the nomination, but coalition negotiations are taking place only among the political parties — a process in which, as President, I cannot interfere or know how far they have advanced. For more details, the parties themselves should provide information,” she added.

Osmani concluded by stressing the importance of having a constitutionally mandated government as soon as possible, noting that this would accelerate reforms, the adoption of an inclusive budget, and other vital decisions.

“The timing depends on the political parties, which I hope will find a common language so that the citizens of Kosovo can finally have a government with full constitutional authority,” she said.
