Russian President Vladimir Putin has declared a four-day ceasefire in Ukraine, set to take place between May 7 and May 11, according to a statement from the Kremlin, reported by RIA Novosti.
The ceasefire coincides with the 80th anniversary of the victory over fascism, the Kremlin announced.
According to the statement, the truce will be in effect from May 7 to May 8 at midnight, and then resume from May 10 to May 11. During these periods, all hostilities are expected to be halted.
Russia has called on Kyiv to reciprocate by observing the ceasefire.
“Should Kyiv violate the ceasefire, Russian forces will respond adequately and effectively,” the Kremlin warned.
Additionally, Moscow reiterated its readiness for peace talks without preconditions, aiming to address the fundamental causes of the Ukrainian crisis and to engage in constructive cooperation with international partners.
