Nenad Rašić, the president of the Party for Freedom, Justice, and Survival (GI SPO), has stated that every vote cast for his party in the recent June parliamentary elections was the direct result of civic courage rather than political force.
In an official statement released following the publication of the final election results, Rašić emphasized that the ballot outcome proved that independent voices still exist within the Kosovo Serb community, despite intense external pressures.
“The election results have shown something far more important to us than mere numbers—they showed that a free person still exists, that their voice is still heard, and that no one can silence it,” Rašić declared.
A 15% Growth Amid Systemic Pressure
The political landscape for the ten parliamentary seats reserved for the Serb community in the Assembly of Kosovo remains highly polarized. According to the certified results:
- GI SPO Mandate: The Party for Freedom, Justice, and Survival secured 5,446 votes, guaranteeing them one parliamentary seat.
- Steady Growth: Rašić highlighted that support for his party has grown continuously, marking a 15% increase in votes compared to the previous election cycle.
- The Opposition: The remaining nine parliamentary mandates reserved for the Serb community were won by Srpska Lista (The Serb List), the dominant political force backed by official Belgrade.
Defying Coercion at the Ballot Box
The GI SPO leader used his address to remind the public of the highly volatile atmosphere surrounding independent Serb politicians in Kosovo. Rašić openly condemned what he described as targeted pressures, threats, and calculated attempts to deny citizens their basic right to a free democratic choice during the campaign.
By framing the vote as a triumph of individual resilience over institutional leverage, Rašić signaled that his incoming legislative mandate will focus on breaking political monopolies and providing an alternative democratic platform for regional stability and minority survival.
