The Republican-led US House Oversight Committee has subpoenaed the director of the US Secret Service, Kimberly Cheatle, to testify at a hearing scheduled for July 22, the Guardian reports.
“Americans demand answers to the attempted assassination of President Trump,” the panel said in a statement to X, noting that Cheatle’s appearance is voluntary.
These developments come after an assassination attempt on former US President Donald Trump, who was shot in the upper part of the right ear during a rally in Pennsylvania.
The 20-year-old assassin was killed at the scene by Secret Service agents.
