The Prime Minister of Gabon, Remon Ndong Sima, who arrived today for a visit to Belgrade, said that the country will not support the adoption of the resolution on Srebrenica in the General Assembly of the United Nations (UN).
Sima today met with Prime Minister Miloš Vučević at the Palace of Serbia, after which he stated in a joint press conference that Gabon respects the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Serbia.
“Gabon respects Serbia and everything that country does, and we expect the same in return. We are in the logic of mutual respect. “Gabon is constant in its attitudes towards old friendships and we want to preserve those relationships,” he said.
Vucevic said that the Resolution is not just a formality and that many in Serbia do not understand the consequences that its eventual approval would have. He specified that the adoption of the resolution on Serebrenica would have profound consequences for the fate of Serbia and the Serbian people.
“We greatly appreciate Gabon’s position on this matter. We will see on Thursday who is Serbia’s partner and who is not. Of course, we will diplomatically approach those who do not act in partnership, but we have a ready answer”, he said.
After the meeting with Vucevic, Prime Minister Sima held a plenary meeting of the government delegations of the two countries.
In his presence, the Memorandum of Understanding in the field of sports and the Agreement for cooperation in the field of defense were signed.
